WeCoNET: Host-Pathogen Interaction Database of Common Bunt disease

Overview

Wheat (Triticum aestivum), the most widely cultivated crop in the world, ranks third and counts to around 35% of the total grains produced around the globe. Recently, the occurence of common bunt in wheat has affected the grain yield and quality of the crop to a great extent, thus being a major threat to the agriculture industry, worldwide. The disease is caused by two fungal pathogens, Tilletia caries and Tilletia laevis, which are highly similar to each other in terms of life cycle and germination, but differ in morphology.

The study of protein-protein interactions is crucial so as to have a better understanding of the disease infection mechanism. WeCoNET is a user-friendly database for Triticum aestivum -Tilletia species protein-protein interactions. The database provides valuable information about the Tilletia species, including various functional protein annotations of the proteins involved in the interactions.
